Production Highlights: Shafiq Husayn, Michael Jackson

Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra discusses artistic philosophy and the need poorly made music as a contrast to good music. (via Ignantwitted)

The masses of the people think the music industry is like a get rich scheme now.  Having a beat machine and rhyming is like the new jump shop or the new 40 yard dash.  That’s the new out.

Various producers from Michael Jackson Remix Suite discuss working on the project:

DJ Ian Head’s November Rock Music Mix

The November mix features Wallace Collection, Argent, Shawn Phillips, Fever Tree, Ashton, Gardner and Dyke, Atomic Rooster, Steve Miller, Stephen Stills, Blues Project, Gun, Led Zeppelin, Gas Mask and more.

Why DJ Hero Flopped

Ars Technica explores some of the reasons why Activision’s DJ Hero has thus far sold significantly less than expected.

Activision Blizzard spent a mint promoting the game, including hiring big-name producers and DJs to hype the release, as well as bringing in Jay-Z and Eminem to perform at a star-studded concert at E3. The game had strong early buzz, and it could still be a slow-burning hit. Our guess, though, is that you’re looking at an expensive flop of game. Why did a title with so much going for it miss the mark in sales so spectacularly?

  1. Why did a title with so much going for it miss the mark in sales so spectacularly?

  2. cause only white ppl play gutair hero

i never really thought about that but we do. I really dislike video games i would much rather slap my mp around or whatever but fck i cant tell you how many times i have went to partys or afterpartys and its a group of people playing rock band and people are actually proud that they can play it so well. . . i just look at them like you all fail at life and its not the video game stereo types im talking about attractive chicks and these arent shit partys either uptown with the resources to do whatever they want to be doing and they got a piece of plastic around them and there acting like axle rose high fiving each other …

  3. I’m white, never played guitar hero in my life….in fact, I can’t remember the last time I played a video game outside of a public arcade with my kids…..I’d rather play my real guitar, or my bass, or dig for real wax, talk to real people, whatever – there’s a whole word out there and you only live once, why would you want to waste it in front of the boob tube?

  4. i guess we come to the conclusion that DJ’s and producers were the target audience and none of us have time to sit around and play with video games

    yes sir!

  6. They shoehorned a guitar hero controller onto a “turntable” controller. I played it for about 15 minutes at the game store. Instead of playing it again, I’d rather put my nuts in a drawer and slam it shut. It’s almost as if they could read minds regarding what people wanted, and then did the exact opposite. Newsflash for Activision: Records don’t have buttons.
