Nashiem Myrick On The Making of “Who Shot Ya”

Grind Music Radio returns with Nashiem Myrick (CNN, Black Rob, Ma$e, Mariah Carey, Lil’ Kim) of Bad Boy’s Hitmen as he discusses his start in production making pause tapes and interning at Bad Boy records. The height of the interview is where he reveals that the first beat he ever made using professional production equipment, an E-mu SP-1200 and an Akai S-950, was Notorious B.I.G.’s “Who Shot Ya”.

The first beat I did for real was “Who Shot Ya”

The second beat after that was “Somebody’s Gotta Die”

For those inclined to do a little crate digging, get ready to chase after “The Masquerade Is Over” by David Porter.

  1. That David Porter has been sought after for a while. The album is dope and that cover too. See also the Gza-Duel of the Iron Mic off of the Liquid Swords album.

  2. Is there a part 2 to this video? This is my favorite Grind Music interview you have posted, dude seems super humble yet his discography is absolutely mind blowing. Much respect to this cat.

  3. I know alot of people shit on DIddy but the dude was a monster on the boards. I mean him and the hitmen were insane back in the day. those beats on that Life after death album are classic. diddy may be a good bizness man but he knows and hears gold

  4. Myrick has always been a favorite of mine! Fam’s shit stands the test of time. Artists nowadays are missing out.

Salute to Grind Music for paying homage!

  5. I have been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
