Just Blaze On The Birth of Producer Track ID Tags

Another Grind Music Radio interview gem.  Just Blaze gives an update on recent studio activity, early inspiration, and discovery the James Brown “Funky Drummer” sample for the first time.  He also talks about his early studio equipment, work ethic as an intern, and the history of producer track ID tags.

Early Studio Pieces:
Casio SK-5
Roland JS-30 + zip drive
Ensoniq ASR-10

Tearing studio, building some studios up, trying to finish records in between all that… it’s hectic right now.

I’ve been DJ’ing pretty much since I could walk.

  1. throughout my existance i could never figure out if Just Blaze is a humble person who is thankful for everything or is a asshole. still one of my fav producers tho! lmao

  2. I think he has the right to be a little cocky. He has a lot of bangers in his history. Some of us would kill for one of those opportunities.

  3. Good interview ‘ I don’t think he’s cocky . They ask him a question he gives them an answer. No puffy is cocky ‘ jay z is cocky with that on to the next one joint ‘ but all theses folks deserve it to me. There is a difference between talkin about sucess when asked and just talkin about it .I would love to talk to just blaze for 15 minutes I probally would buy everything he mentions ‘ hey he bought an asr cause RZA had one now look where he at,Not saying its the gear and not the producer but you know what im saying.

  4. Yeah, wtf’s he supposed to sound like? LOL

“Awe golly gee fellas. I made a beat and went to Beanie and I didn’t want to bother him so I waited till he was alone and asked if I was could play them for him. I thought he liked them and then he saw that I was nervous and said “Say Justin, I’m gonna give your beats a shot. ” But anyway I’m sure you guys don’t need to hear this story. Let’s talk about something else.”

  5. the man fully said that sometimes he still doesn’t feel like he made it. there’s nothing cocky about that.

  6. @ FEMI @WORK ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU REFFENCED IN YOUR COMMENT …I THINK WHAT YOUR TRYING TO SAY IS THEY ARE HATERS!
