  1. is hie seriously using the MPC60 to sequence the sounds from Maschine?

That seems relatively pointless. The sequencer on Maschine is solid. you dont need to do that.
I guess JD hasnt learnt how to use maschine all that well yet.

  2. Man, everyone’s work flow is difference. Some people use MPC’s to trigger Reason and Fl Studio. Im guessing since he’s so comfortable with the MPC60 he’s just using it to his benefit. He’ll probably end up using it less as he learns more.

  3. wow, that might be the worst vid I seen on this site. JD, cut it out, you a grown ass man. “24 hour champagne diet” If this is the result of that diet, I want no parts of it and you should get taken off of it immediately. Now that I think about it, you been on that diet for the last couple years. Cut it out.

  4. yikes, that beat is atrocious. And i dont mean that in any positive way. lol. I really try to steer away from negative comments but that beat is …. hmmm, yeah.

  5. I AIN’T GONNA LIE I WAS FEELING THAT TILL HE THREW THE HIGH HATS IN THERE ‘ BUT YA KNOW I CANT KNOCK HIM CAUSE HE IS A MAJOR MAJOR STAR IN THE GAME AND HAS ACCOMPLISHED WHAT MOST OF US COULD NEVER EVEN DREAM OF ‘ BUT THAT VIDEO KEEP IN MIND IS BASICALLY A TRIAL OF MACHINE NOT HIM ACTUALLY TRYING TO MAKE A BEAT I HOPE ! I JUST THINK HE HAD A LITTLE TOO MUCH CHAMPAYNE . SO AS A FAN OF THE MUSIC IM GONNA GIVE HIM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT .

  6. I figure that would be a throw away joint, but it wasn`t that bad. Since it was a quick vid,I figure he wouldn`t do a masterpiece before our eyes.

  7. Yo that beat was not JD (DAMN), his norm anyway. Folks try to realize these folks get paid to demo different gear so our asses (consumers) will go out and buy that shit cause who ever or such and such has it. The main reason all these beats these days sound alike is because people aren’t sticking to what they know best. If folks would stop trying to keep up with the jones and not trash their vintage gear cause some clown at Guitar Ctr or Sam Ash told him or her no one uses that MPC 60 or ASR-10, SP-1200/Akai S950 any longer. Not knocking software beat makers or any other machine just saying if you never had an SP-1200 to learn it just Fruity Loops then stick to that cause yo know it and your music will show in quality. If you know that MPC 60 then stay on that joint the easy way may not always be the best way. One Luv

    • Thank you, and this is why I kind of enjoyed this video because it portrayed exactly that. I think Jermaine should do more videos. I was kinda lost with the beat in the beginning but when it all came together that shit sounded kinda nice.

  8. The majority of comments sounds like random hate to me. Jermaine Dupri is not in my top five producers of all time but I got to give him some respect for this because if you think about it…. What multi-platinum producer shows vulnerability in making a beat on the spot knowing it will be on youtube etc, when ANYBODY with an opinion can say whatever? It’s rare but I would like to see more from other producers without it getting removed right after the fact.

    • actually I agree with you 100%
takes balls to show your weak spot….
but Random hate? lol its wasnt good!
I think people just expressed themselves!
I thought it was the result of forcing the southern swing into your music just cause your from the south…u know the 808 kit for EVERY beat? yeah…that…
going for a hit or not, he could have made that rhythm work…
cause it wasnt sounding that bad at 1st…
the whole drum pattern was sorry IMO….

      lol but u want random hate…iight :
JD is an overrated copycat wanna be puff daddy…
his whole career has been based off copying,
the fact he’s a “multi platinum producer” and cant construct something muscially “on the spot” because HE CHOSE to do so says alot…
Is that an actual SAMPLE he’s using *gasp*?
At the VH1 “dirty south hip hop” awards he totally acted like he was some victim of southern hatred!! I thought that was incredible!
I think he just gets all the props he deserves, which is very little…
oh and did I mention his pops used to run columbia records?
he probably got handed half his beat placements…and song ideas…
      I’ll let u tell it…
      HELLO IM A HATER!

      • Must have hit a nerve but If the shoe fits… Really this has nothing to do with JD for the most part because I’m not a fan of his. What I’m saying most producers that are known in the industry will not show themselves making a beat on film; at least now. Especially when it appears they are just making something on the spot. You may get a rare Just Blaze or something but you dont really see it. Do you want to know who will post their videos? EVERYBODY ELSE! Although there’s nothing wrong with that sometimes you want to see a professional working their craft. Emeril can say he’s a dope chef all day but when you see him in the kitchen doing his thing you realize why he’s dope and either that will inspire you or let you know to stick to your day job.

        But… I digress.

  9. That was awful. But there’s always a lesson=

Friends don’t let friends put out wack MPC beats.

Maybe, just maybe, Dupri is getting into some next level El-P challenging beats type of sound? haha

      • i totally agree shit man that was trash man no hate it was just a bad beat even black milk said he didn’t like being put on the spot but he also said you ain’t fixing the catch me on here being wack lol shit man dude had the nuts to put a wack ass i respect him off that but wack is wack i don’t care how you put it

  10. He had a dope sample he just didn’t make it hip hop he made it that wack southern music garbage that floods the radio.
