Exile Performs Live At Red Bull Big Tune Finals

November 30, 2010

Producer Exile delivers yet another one of his amazing live performances using an Akai MPC2000XL. Yes, the live commentary you hear in the background was provided by none other than DJ Premier.

the crowd like wtf.

Ace Fadal December 2, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I have performed on My Trigger finger many times. and the crowd acts the same… The only time its been REALLY hype, was when I had emcees rhyming on my beats. The producer gets very little or no love. Even at Beat battles, Im on stage with some of the illest beat makers in my city…Anr the crowd seemed so confused.

he is super talented i love his music but i dont know how i feel about this stuff … its cool but maybe not my cup of tea …

Ike December 1, 2010 at 1:02 am

I Wuda been better off uploading my video. i was right in front

Ike December 1, 2010 at 1:02 am

He killed Araab tho

Ike December 1, 2010 at 1:09 am

Aw shit u aint get the end when he hit his face on the mpc and it was still on beat LOL

silas aka simon December 1, 2010 at 10:16 am

if anyone has that please upload

derdewerwww December 1, 2010 at 4:05 am

If your ish is wack it doesnt matter if you do it live. Araab beats is the same way, its cool to look at but hearing it is terrible.

Hamilton Hater December 1, 2010 at 6:13 am

Soo True! I wont call him wack though. I’m just not feeling his style…dont like the sounds he uses. He has great timing though!lol

reveal December 1, 2010 at 4:57 am

Exile is wack? lol

silas aka simon December 1, 2010 at 10:15 am

man if you talk sideways about arab or exile you have never in your life touched an mp

Ike December 2, 2010 at 1:21 am

Nah. MPC is hard as fuck ill admit. I gave up on that shit. But Araab shit sounded like what i already done seen on his YouTube/WSHH videos

I got Exile shit on my EVO but it sounds kinda bad. If i upload it will the sound improve?

reveal December 1, 2010 at 4:49 pm

Both of these guys are talented… I would love to see a battle between Aswell and Jel… David Hanes vs. Araabmuzik that would be some shit. lol

juiceboxjackson December 1, 2010 at 5:42 pm

I don’t know…as a beat maker myself, this guy is unbelievable…maybe I just have grown accustomed to his style over the years but Exile blows me away every time…would love to see him live.

ibn yasir December 1, 2010 at 6:52 pm

being a good mpc player and a good beat maker are not mutually exclusive bruv. exile is both, but araab is only a good mpc plaer and average producer.

Djbigphill December 2, 2010 at 9:16 am

Cats need to get a grip, the only reason why people on this site hate on araab is becuase his beats have more street appeal ….exile and araab are both nice…if u love hip hop for what it trully is….ART…..then that concept wouldnt b hard to unferstand

Hamilton Hater December 2, 2010 at 3:52 pm

You dont have to like everyone or everything about hip hop…Everyone is their own man and has a right to their opinion.

Heir December 2, 2010 at 11:39 am

Peace yall…

It’s a beautiful thing to see Exile, Araab, and others doing their thing. Whether it’s super hot or not is moot. I look at it as these dudes are giving deserved credence to the Mpc being an instrument 100%. It’s one thing to loop a sample, throw some drums on top, a bassline and be done in 15 min at the crib. But it’s entirely a different story playing LIVE and using it as a full on instrument. Your timing has to be on point and you have to have a deep knowledge of the instrument to do it like they do. Props and love for taking something that is seen by most as just a sampler / sequencer and making it a full on instrument. Thats what Hip Hop is and why we love it. Turn it up!

woowee December 2, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Say word son!

I’m still surprised this live mpc “battle” wasn’t recorded by the Big Tune cats. Or was it? I said it before, I’ll say it again, this shit could have some X-Men vs ISP type shit.

Maybe the people who do the MPC battle, if that’s even around anymore, will wise up and make it happen.

Ace Fadal December 2, 2010 at 7:48 pm

I obviously didnt get icked to battle…But I think its because I said that I would perform all of my beats live on the pads. Thats too much competition for noobs I guess..

Egon Brainparts December 4, 2010 at 1:18 pm

There is no doubt Exile is filthy. I think the problem here is the lack of a close perspective. You can’t see his fingers hitting the pads, switching banks, etc. as you can in other videos of him performing and thus it is hard to associate the sounds with his action. That all being said, this sonically is def not my favorite Exile live performance.

Egon Brainparts December 4, 2010 at 1:21 pm

as I typed that end part…I heard the end of the set and take back what I said…he kills the end hard and it sounds good.

danny_ December 4, 2010 at 5:39 pm

Damn all cats do nowadays is hate on the artists who worked hard to get where they are today. Shame on y’all. Ex is a beast at playing his MPC live & producing excellent beats. I’m a fan of his shit & always will be.

Lee December 6, 2010 at 12:53 pm

Exile is dope…….Aura CBSCREW……

Matty Melks December 6, 2010 at 5:26 pm

I’m not crazy about some of the sounds Exile uses sometimes, but that dude is a beast – he produced Disturbed on Blame One’s album Days Chasing Days and that’s one of my favorite tracks right now –

as a live musician and a beatmaker, my opinion is that the dude is on top of his game – super good timing and precision on his instrument, not only that, but he rocks out – hand slaps and all that on the pads – I find lots of “live” mpc performances boring cause quite often it’s just some dude standing in front of a box – at least Exile gets into it

BlackWisdom December 10, 2010 at 9:46 am

Exile is too crazy, I saw him in South Africa doing some other things with the MPC much respect
