Beat Society NYC Footage f/ Don Cannon, Illmind

April 21, 2011

Here’s a little something for those who didn’t have a chance to attend Beat Society’s first NYC event in six years. The live producer showcase took place on February 12th at Tammany Hall in NYC and featured such producers as Don Cannon, Khrysis, Illmind, Nottz, and DJ Revolution saddled up with their trusty laptops and samplers.

oh boy let the Maschine debate begin again lol. Wonder how many people will buy one after seeing these guys use it.

word 2 the wize keep your mpc…

EDAYE April 22, 2011 at 2:52 pm

Great seeing the Maschine pop up with most of the cats onstage. Unfortunately the tracks played in the video were too similar except for Nottz keeping it gully with that Long Red sample. I thought the tracks lacked some soul and were too “gamey” sounding. But what do I know? These dudes making money while I am still trying to be heard..

Sinosure April 23, 2011 at 1:33 pm

On the real, I think they were showcasing for the “now” music crowd, except for the Nottz joint. All of the catz there have the skillz to make that underground hip hop we all know & love, & we know this. So at the end of the day, these guys are still making paper. And bruh, don’t lose hope, cause I feel ya, I wanna be heard too. If we keep at it, we will.

EDAYE April 25, 2011 at 10:43 am

Ups to Sinosure..Yeah they all have the skillz for the other styles of hip hop for sure but I hoped they mixed it up more than what I heard.

I’ll be interested to see if Nottz beats change at all. As long as he can do his trademark bassline’s, hard drums and sample flips I’ll be looking closer into Maschine, lol. I was afraid it would adjust sound people’s tendency’s too much

G!ant May 20, 2011 at 6:01 pm

If you want that beat (the one at the end is !llmind if i’m not mistaken) I chopped it and extended it.

Hit me up.
