VohnBeatz Makes “Flying Kites” Beat

February 10, 2009

If 11 year old VohnBeatz is any representation of the next generation of producers, then the future of hip-hop looks very bright.  S-1 (Symbolic One) is clearly training his son in the way of the Jedi.

NO HE LOOKS HAPPY TO ME. I HAVE KIDS TOO . THE THING IS WHEN YOU SEE KIDS DOING SOMETHING THEY LOVE YA KNOW ‘ LIKE YOU GOTTA SUPPORT IT. I BET HE WAS WATCHING HIS DAD AND SAID YUP. THATS WHAT I WANNA DO. SO MANY PARENTS OUT THERE PUNISH A KID WITH WHAT THEY LOVE DOING BY HOLDING IT AGAINST THEM AS A FORM OF PUNISHMENT ITSELF ‘ WHEN THEY GET INTO TROUBLE FOR DOING WHAT KIDS DO OR WHATEVEVER.I THINK THATS A BIG MISTAKE IF YOU SUPPORT WHAT KIDS LOVE DOING IT WILL KEEP MOST KIDS OUT OF THE STREET AND THEY MORE LIKELY WILL END UP DOING SOMETHING POSITIVE.THIS APPLIES TO EVERYTHING EVEN SPORTS IF YOU SEE A KID WATCHING FOOTBALL OR PRACTICING WITH HIS FRIENDS ‘ SIGN HIM UP TO LITTLE LEAGUE.WHO KNOWS HE MIGHT BE IN THE HALL OF FAME ONE DAY.

I feel ya, but kids just know stuff…they feel like ok, my dad makes beats, if I make em too, he’ll spend more time with me…or my dad will like me more if I’m just like him…

Its all good, I just don’t like kids feeling pressured to be something…and later down the road, they say…”I only did it for you…” and move on… That’s sad bc they spent so much time doing what other people wanted them to do and not what they wanted…

But hey my kid isn’t even 3 yet…but I know how it is…

Thanks everyone.
My dad inspires me, he doesn’t make me do music. I love what I do. I get excited when I get done with homework,so I can get in the lab. I have been begging my dad since I was 8 to make music. Anytime I start making a beat, is because I have the desire to and an idea I want to put down.

Thanks again,
VohnBeatz

You are on a track to do great things sir. Let your own ear guide you, it will take you places.

Make music for the pure joy of it, and success and happiness will come your way.

I’d love to see this kid after he takes them Piano & Bass lessons (the guitar will help too but mostly the keys & bass) and a little theory under his belt, because he definitely has the natural ability hone it with a little musical knowledge and he’ll be golden…keep at it kid, and always be a student of hip-hop know your history, it takes a true fan to make great music, let your pops teach the history of this culture and no one will stop you…
