Performed by the average person, T-Pain scratching demo would probably be considered somewhat basic. Still, it’s refreshing to find out that T-Pain is not only skilled with Auto-Tune, but is also competent on the 1’s and 2’s.

As if we needed yet another reason to hate Auto-Tune and its sheepish following. T-Pain and Smule have teamed up to develop the I Am T-Pain iPhone app, which will allow users to record their own tweaked vocals over pop beats in a similar fashion to Antares Auto-Tune.

T-Pain makes catchy songs, but are they any good? The self proclaimed "ringleader of the game" discusses his initial use of Antares Auto-Tune and confesses,"It’s making me money so I ain’t got to stop." He also talks about haters, Ron Browz’s misunderstanding of Auto-Tune, and the "T-Pain" effect.

Here’s the question though… at what point do we bury the concept of "haters" and intelligently discuss T-Pain’s crutch use of Auto-Tune and the sheepish, groupthink mentality that’s become the norm for both Hip-Hop artists and fans?

In a promo for Apple’s Logic recording suite, T-Pain discusses mobile production techniques, on the fly recording, and the versatility of digital technology. I kept waiting for the topic of Auto-Tune to be brought up, but it’s still very interesting to see his recording process and the use of live musicians while creating tracks.
