T-Pain Auto-Tune iPhone App By Smule

As if we needed yet another reason to hate Auto-Tune and its sheepish following. T-Pain and Smule have teamed up to develop the I Am T-Pain iPhone app, which will allow users to record their own tweaked vocals over pop beats in a similar fashion to Antares Auto-Tune.

Open Labs iPhone Beatmaker w/ Neko Demonstration

Open Labs quickly demos iPhone’s Beatmaker software alongside with the Timbaland Special Edition Neko. It’s interesting to watch them load Beatmaker with sound patches workstation, record a pattern, then export an audio wav back into the Neko Reaper sequencer for further manipulation.

Hopefully I’m not the only one who’s been drooling at the thought of today’s kickoff of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Beside announcing the next Mac OS entitled Snow Leopard, Steve Jobs unveiled new features for the 3G iPhone including GPS, push abilities, and of course new software applications.

With the recently proliferation of music making applications for the iPhone, I think the only thing holding me back from going All-Apple is my hatred of touch screens (I’m sure this can be somehow overcome). In case you’re also on the fence, check out this video of Moo Cow Music’s "Band" application for the iPhone and watch out for drool puddles forming on your keyboard. Included features are drumming, guitar, piano, audience, scratching simulators, and in-phone mixing.

With the anticipated 3G release date of June 9th, the iPhone may be the next producer weapon of choice. Roventskij has just released the IR-909 1.0 Beta 2 version of their drum machine for a donation of "a dollar or two." The IR-909 comes complete with a 16 step sequencer, 4 patterns, and 8 drum sounds.

Also available at the website is the iPhoneSynth, which includes a 16 step sequencer and the ability to change lenth and oscillator type for each step. Low pass filter is even included!

MixMeister Scratch turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a virtual portable turntable with multiple "vinyl" presets and the ability to scratch over your own songs located in the player. ProRemote Pro Tools Control Surface For iPhone and iTouch

There is now a solution for those of you that don’t want to drop the significant cash investment on a Pro Tools control surface such as the Command 8. Programmer Alex le Lievre of Far Out Labs has created a pretty amazing program that enables users to control Mac OS X enabled Pro Tools LE, HD, and M-Powered using an iPhone or iTouch. This combined with the availability of Beat phone software makes a pretty compelling case for Mac and iPhone owners (I’ve personally been drooling over the Blackberry 8830 tri-band world phone). ProRemote is currently available as a beta release directly from Far Out Labs and carries and expected price tag of $150, although that number will most likely change in the future.
