i thought he was gonna make a beat . i think he over hyped it just a bit.

Mic Rage January 14, 2010 at 4:58 pm

I was waiting to see how he grabbed the samples and what programs he used.

silas January 14, 2010 at 10:37 pm

he just choped 2bar lines using a 2500 using autochop feature on the mp, which given several shots to the head with a blunt object and horse traquilzers and monkey could have done also in about 5 mins

silas January 14, 2010 at 11:15 pm

* a monkey

Allied January 14, 2010 at 5:03 pm

JP January 15, 2010 at 4:34 am

That shit was booooooooo booooooooo, why was this even posted?

D-DOUBLE January 15, 2010 at 9:17 am

lame as eff indeed. if i was showbiz i’d be heated at anyone postin this….but i guess he knew what he was up to. “choppin for dummies” or what?!

p.b. January 15, 2010 at 9:20 am

Whats with all the stuff he was talking. Bigging up his chopping skills
and then just doing that. Very disappointing.
Its like when people say ‘never meet your heroes because you will always be disappointed’.
Still a legend in the game though.

BIG G January 15, 2010 at 9:35 am

Take it easy it’s only lesson 1

Sane McGillicutty January 15, 2010 at 10:55 am

leo goetz January 15, 2010 at 11:35 am

Shame on showbiz,
sorry but that was really wack!

diyhai January 15, 2010 at 3:26 pm

the way he chopped that Lean Back was crazy

SHAMZ January 16, 2010 at 12:07 am

Some of you beat nerds need to pump your motherfuckin brakes a little bit…What the fuck have you ever done ?

I agree ” Show ” didn’t really go in, but he was just toying around…..If it wasn’t for him half of you lames wouldn’t even be ” diggin in the crates “…

You better recognize and realize that he is a true king in the game…If you want to hear him really flip some crazy chops, listen to the ” Show & A.G. ” experience album for proof…..

And on some real shit, FUCK YOU SILAS….You better check yourself with that ” monkey talk ” you square ass punk !!!!!!!!!!!

silas January 16, 2010 at 11:08 pm

gtfoh nobody said dude wasnt great at what he does but this is some shit somebody little sister could do it takes 2 steps on an mp you record the sample and then use auto chop and it asigns it to the pads for you

1 i have never seen u around here b4 so pump your breaks homie
2 this is one of the few sites where the production and the music is the point if shit is whack its whack if you want to start a fight in the comments section go to wshh
3 the monkey reference is to a theory that a monkey given enough time and paper etc he could type any great literary work from thoreau to shakspere but if you did take that as a racial slant then it reflects more on you than myself
4 this is a 2 parter so try hard to keep up and not get angry
A- remove showbiz’s shaft and scrotem from your tonsils
B- go to wiki search suicide and follow the direction

Henry the fourth January 16, 2010 at 12:46 am

That was shite.

LeftOut January 16, 2010 at 1:40 am

jon January 16, 2010 at 8:40 am

Wow, Shamz is angry. I dont think Silas was being racist with the monkey remark. Stop being so touchy. Can the word monkey not be used now for fear of being racist.
Have you not heard the expression ‘its so easy even a trained chimp could do it’ ?
I think most people on here recognize that Show is a legend in the game. Thats why they are a little surprised to see the content in this video.
This video obviously does not reflect Shows skills as a producer.

skript January 16, 2010 at 1:38 pm

this is really disappointing…

Show is dope, but i dont get this..

Michael January 17, 2010 at 10:02 am

I almost feel sorry for Showbiz lol.

furself January 17, 2010 at 11:59 pm

wo January 20, 2010 at 9:32 am

devon holt January 21, 2010 at 4:06 pm

listen to the goodfellas ep and take that corn on the cob out your ureathra. all you keyboard commandos were probably still shitting on your superman undies while this guy was laying some of the illest foundations for all of us.

SHAMZ January 22, 2010 at 5:18 am

Thank god someone has some sense ( Devon & Wo )…..It’s real easy for Hip Hop weasels ( Silas ) to talk greasy on a computer, but I bet you anything that these cats beats are straight ASS CHEEKS…

Show is one of the best to ever do it STRAIGHT UP & DOWN….Instead of trying to clown on this brother, you should put that energy into getting YOUR sound together, YOUR catalogue together, YOUR whole steez together…..

Whatever happened to respect ?

I bet you back in the day cats like Silas were listening to Kenny G, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Loggins…..Now your trying to diss Showbiz ?…..

FALL BACK !!!!!!!!!!

silas January 22, 2010 at 9:12 am

wtf is a hip hop weasel ?

I bet you back in the day cats like Silas were listening to Kenny G, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Loggins
got damn how old are u, if you got an aarp card you should prob give up

Chris B April 8, 2010 at 10:28 pm

as i agreed with a comment below, i think you are underrating his skills with the akai man…

the description was a “Demo”

hes not gonna get into making an intricate beat when hes trying to explain something simple just to get the basics down…read between the lines bro

"quis star!" January 26, 2010 at 3:52 am

Yo on some real… we talking about a guy who has influenced your favorite producers.. Listen on all them Show & A.G. albums , this nigga was chopping the shit out of drum breaks when niggas was looping them shits..he is one of the reasons I wanted to produce records, or buy a MPC, and if it’s so EASY make the classic albums he did! come close to “Sound Of Da Police” come close to “Full Scale” I mean yall guys have NO respect, he has NOTHING to prove. He already did what many wanted to do in the early 90′s and beyond. I mean Diggin In The Crates.. nobody wasn’t saying that shit till them brothas did that! shit on that too! shit on how they took record diggin to a whole another level. Mr. auto chop! that’s what YOU DO. So if you haven’t made classic albums, and when you walk in a record store the shit is on the wall for a $100 or better, work with Pun, KRS One, Big L, etc. And if you from the East Coast! you really should be a shame.. he is one of the reasons for that NYC sound.. drums, obscure samples… matter of fact this nigga brought a whole record store at a point in the era.. you shit on Showbiz you shittin on Diamond D, Buckwild, Lord Finesse, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, etc The Bronx! DO YOUR MUTHAFUCKIN HOMEWORK! that’s why this Hip Hop shit is crazy now.. NO APPRECIATION! YALL NIGGAS AIN’T HIP HOP. Fuck outta here with that bullshit!. I said it!

Billy Ray Valentine February 8, 2010 at 9:52 pm

You can appreciate Show’s contribution and still not fuck with the video. I think we gotta put the disappointment in context. He’s talking like he’s doing something incredible on that machine and he’s not, frankly. People need to keep in mind that this is NOT the type of setup that Show made “Runaway Slave” on which was an SP1200 and likely a s950. It was a different time with different technology and what he did back then was unquestionably ill and one of the top hip hop albums ever produced, (the samples he and his crew unearthed alone, were earth shattering ), but i think what you’re seeing here is an older producer who, while unquestionably a legend, is not maximizing (and overwhelmed by) the capabilities of a newer machine that is not his staple. It’s unlikely that he will do anything mind blowing on a 2500. That in no way diminishes his previous contribution. An analogy is how Grandmaster Flash is a fucking icon, but he’s not going to do anything Qbert-esque on the turntables. He’d be the first to admit that technically that’s the next level of what he pioneered.

Chris B April 8, 2010 at 10:13 pm

While i personally find his newer production a little bit more catchy…
(The Live Hard EP)
…Show has proven that he can make music that is superb. I highly doubt that he is going to pull something spectacular out of his ass with this machine, but then again, he probably just did this on camera to fuck around. I KNOW he is capable of much better, so why are all of these people judging him based on this one video? I bet they cant produce any better…matter of fact, their shit is probably worse considering all the hate hes getting. He, along with Finesse, Ahmed, Diamond D, and even E Blaze to an extent have cemented New York as a viable competitor.

gmoney June 30, 2010 at 11:34 am

Show was just giving the beginners a lil lesson on samplin. cool. now check out that video showbiz playing beats with premier. That’s the video for all of you who want that raw shit from SHOW. cyber sequencer March 24, 2011 at 5:56 pm

Is it me or did dude not show anything ?

Darkness October 20, 2011 at 6:55 pm

Y’all buggin, he ain’t gonna give away money-making secrets. Show y’all what took YEARS, if not DECADES to learn. Gonna point y’all in the right direction and if You REALLY want to learn about the craft, you’ll pick up where he left off. Imma tell You: It’s ALL on the internet. Just gotta put in half the work Showbiz did…nowaday’s it’s TOO easy to DITC, get production tips, etc. The hardest part is putting it all together on your own.
