R.I.P. Roc Raida: Master Turntablist & World Champion DJ

September 19, 2009

Crate Kings is sad to report that Grandmaster Roc Raida (X-Men) passed away today. Besides being extremely influential to legions of turntablists, Roc Raida was highly respected and loved by many.

Please take a moment to view the above footage from the 1995 DMC World Championships and honor the unique skill and style of Roc Raida, which earned him the title of DMC World Champion that year.

WOW. We really lost a great DJ. God bless him and his family.

He was the first DJ I actually saw beat juggling…which was a huge influence for me to start deejaying.

Damn this summer of death. Rest in power Grandmaster Roc Raida. The reason why I destroy crews on the 1`s and 2`s.

One of the funkiest to do it. I was there at the DMC final in 95 & he had some real competition that year from DJ Noize but it was all love. RIP.
