Grandmaster Flash 1986 Interview: Origin of MC’ing

January 25, 2010

Class is in session.  In a video flashback from 1986, Grandmaster Flash explains the craft of DJ‘ing and the origin of MC’ing while going to work on Bob James’s “Take Me To The Mardi Gras”.

When I started to get busy on the turntables, everybody would just stop dancing and just look like as if I was holding class.
