im not a good trouble shooter but ill try to help you out. i guess i need to know where your getting hung up exactly...?

make sure your drivers are set in the preferences in logic to the internal sound card. also in your computers general preferences the audio in should be set to line in and NOT internal microphone. in logic the audio tracks are located at the top of the ARRANGE window make sure you select which track you want to record. then hit the record button in the transport window and you should be good to go. one thing youll be able to see when you hit the red record button on the track is the level meter on the particular track when you send signal in. what happens when you do this?

u should have 2 sets....1 decent pair & 1 crappy pair

if u can make your mix sound good on the crappy pair it'll sound good ANYWHERE

alchemist uses a lil ass tape deck boombox with like 3-5inch speakers as reference monitors

i use a surround sound system i bought at walmart for like 40bucks hooked up to my laptop.

IT AINT WHAT U GOT IT'S HOW U USE IT!!!!!!!!!!

well I satrted off to record on a 5 dollar pair of computer speakers and trust me, the shityer is far from better. Getting the bass right is so important and on those speakers the closest thing to bass was the vibration of plastic rubbing against each other. So as soon as u pu that on any stereo system the bass was waaaay to high

all ya need if your cash-strapped (like this college student) is some fruity loop demo, audacity for the samples and a pair of good headphones. that's all i'm rollin on.

once all my loans are paid off i'll start investing in the good stuff.
