Default Hardware or Software

Which is better hardware or software in you guys opinion? We use both (FL*, Pro Tools, Reason, MPC, Triton, etc....) I started in cpu's so im used to and familiar with the software but for some reason the hardware gives a better sound to me.... any comments on this????

To me it depends on the person's preference, its not that one set is better then the other, its how the person utilizes that software or hardware. Hardware tends to give off that warm analog sound where as software gives that crisp, clean sound. I would prefer hardware for that warm sound but all I have is software, but then after making a track with an artist, I record that same track onto cassette tape to get that warm sound of hardware, then re-record it back to the computer in WAV format.

I love the flexibility and sonic possibility of software, but it isn't as inviting to tweak and twiddle.

Kind funny.....I never thought i'd be saying this but, Software's my choice. Once you learn your programs of choice, the sky is the limit. It's the way of the future. Sound wise, its all in the effects, plug-ins, etc.

I agree with Mantas. I'm from the species soon to be on the Endangered List, we're called Hybrid-Producers because we started off on hardware sound modules/samplers --though they're collecting dust in our racks cuz we never want to part ways with our gear or still have beats we never dumped from the patches!!-- and now rely mainly on VSTi's. But I sequence on the ASQ-10. Best of both worlds and I just think of my PC as one big ass sound module with infinite polyphony and sounds plus no more damn recalling patches!!
