Question about MPC2000XL 8 outs

I'm still a newbie so I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I recently bought a mixer for an MPC 2000XL that I have and when I try to individually assign the mix to the 8 outs I get the 1/2, 3/4 option instead of being able to assign it as 1,2,3 etc Can someone telll me if I'm missing a step?

Its because the samples are stereo you are trying to assign. Use mono samples and then you can utilize the 8 outs... otherwise you only get 4 stereo.
