If youre not on a crazy budget....get the tech12s.

Its like the gibson les paul of turntables. You cant get down on a pair of 12s....might as well give up.

I'm a very poor man. Only equipment I got right now is an 8 year old crap yamaha keyboard and my my padkontrol which only has 10 out of the twelve functional buttons because some dick spilled booze on it. Things I want to buy, turntable, mixer, either fix my padkontrol or just upgrade and get an mpc, some decent monitors and possibly get some software vinyl program. Not to mention all the dough I end up dropping on records.

God I need a job.

totally off-topic, sorry, but don't you find the sound quality suffers a bit when you do this? I have Ableton Live and I used to do stuff that way, but I don't like the way it sounds. Especially with lower frequencies, like bass samples and stuff. I used to be all over that Warp stuff, but now I hardly ever use the warp feature, unless I set it to Repitch. What do you think?

Yeah well the thing is you have to be reasonable with how you use the transpose and warp meaning like you can't slow a song down by like 20 bpm and then pitch it up 2 semitones.

The way I suggest is just adjust the warp markers so it's in time with the song then set the global bpm to what you want for your track and then check the re pitch to see about how much it is pitched up or down then set the transpose to around that pitch. That way your sample is in tune and ableton doesn't have to do as many calculations that's gonna garbage up your sample.

I hear you... I still steer clear of it though. Thas just me. I guess it's like a self-imposed limitation: I only play Ableton Live like it's a real turntable, and so if I adjust the speed of something I always use Repitch, so I'm adjusting the pitch too. I've found I can notice some phasing and distortion on even a slight change with Warp, if it's a bass sample.

That said, I'm doing some heavy pitch-shifting using warp markers for my CrateKings III thing

get 12's yo..before they're discontinued. i can't believe they would even think about discontinuing the greatest turntable of all time! you can find 'em for cheap too if you look in the right places. ebay, pawn shops, newspaper classifides, etc. you really can't go wrong with them, no matter how old they are. i used to have the old vestax turntables, but they still didn't match the feel of a good 'ol 1200. i've messed with many turntables in my 14 years of djing and no matter how many features other tt's have, none have come close to the classic 1200!

if you got the cash i'd say the numark ttx's they have usb capabilities automatic tempo reader, there torque is good and interchangeable arms from s-shaped to straight everything you need in a turntable.
