Not sure how you could use a turntable to use FL Scratcher, but there are loads of midi controllers on the market designed for precisely that, and a lot better software to dj with. However, if you go the turntable route (which I sincerely hope you do) make sure your turntable is direct drive. It doesn't need to be a USB tt, as long you have some sort of line-in function on your computer, and you can record to free software like Audacity which works perfectly.

as for placing basslines under your samples, the thing previously mentioned about filtering everything out except the low end to seperate the bassline from the sample is an ok tactic, but really old. when you take the low end, you will get the kick too, so it might not sound right when played alone. what i like to do is just listen for the bassline of the original sample, then play it over the sample with a vst and put some effects on it (EQ, compression) so it sounds modern-sized, not like 30 year-old bass from a sample. one of those two ways should fix it.

needles dont usually just flat out break, unless you drop it on the side of the platter or something. Ive been using these for about 6 months, and even though its thrashed, it still works. Diggin in the crates does a job on your turntables.

yeah most needles last a while just don't drop or skid them hard multiple times and you should be fine. But as far as basslines If your strapped for cash I would definitely get a midi setup then you'll have a grip of bass tones good ones you can tweak.
