Default Bassline Question

So yeah, I've been trying to get better with basslines, my question is, does anyone have any tips for making the basslines mix perfectly with the kick. And if you have any other tips about making basslines that would help as well.

Try adjusting the attack settings. I usually try to get all the punch in my song from my kick, and try to get the rest of it out by turning the attack up on the bass sample

One of the most important parts of properly mixing the kick with the bass is tuning your kick to your bassline. If you tune them properly your bass will knock harder and sound better.

Well, it's not exactly mixing, but it makes a big difference, at least IMO. I usually just tune or pitch my drums until I find the pitch/note that best complements the bassline.

I read that u should use a bass and a kick that occupy slightly different frequencies (or eq them so that they do). So for example, ur kick might be mostly in the 60-80 range, and ur bass mostly from 80 to 120, or vice versa. Also if you boost ur kick for example in the 60-80 range, u should subtract the same amount from the bass in the 60-80 range so they dont clash.

That said I still have a lot of trouble with this as I think most people do. A lot of time goes out the window trying to get it right.

I dunno grime, as soon as I started paying attention to that stuff I found that a lot of my low-end muddiness was gone, or less overpowering. I have the crappiest monitors in the free world.
