HA! Nice comparison! No structure really. Just crazy beats.

I heard Dilla had tracks that he wouldnt present to MC's cause he knew they were to crazy.

Do you think Dilla Donuts kind of created a new genre of hip hop???

I think it will kind of stay that way. Donuts for me is like pink floyd. It's certainly an experience, something you really haven't heard before, but then it's not something you listen to everyday. I mean would a bunch of unstructured songs with weird vocals sounds and disco sirens hold up as a genre. Probably not.

Haha...Dilla and those damn sirens. Those Sirens always remind me of what a gay strip club would be like.
Dilla loved those damn sirens.
Gotta have:
The Sirens
"Lets Go"
and of course:
"Turn it up"

Dilla's not the only one in love with the disco sirens:
YouTube - Midfield General (Official) - 'Disco Sirens'

I just was listening to donuts again and I have to say that I think the thing that really made that album was the equing. I especially enjoyed it because I first listened to it on monitor headphones. Like if you look at just the composition alot of the tracks like light works are ridiculously simple but it's that crazy equing how the mids and the highs keep tuning up and tuning down in weird ways or you'll hear it on another track the kick drum ducks some high frequency static. It's really weird I want to hear what someone with actual production training has to say about donuts.

donuts is sick.
i love every track on that album.
i forget where i read it but i think he made a lot of those beats in the hospital with an sp303 samples and some 45s and that was it.
one thing i noticed was that a lot of the loops were chopped in weird place meaning not on the one. and the sequences were the same too. they would start on a snare or a hi hat.
