Are you talking about actually possessing instruments and recording them? Or are you talking about using kits and plugins (and shit) to create instrument sounds?

Analog synth is gonna be better than plugins anyday and actual instruments are so many leagues better than simulations it's not even funny. But check the 20syl video I posted that guy uses an actual rhodes piano and stuff in it and it has a real sampled kind of sound to it.

thanks for that lol...but ya i think u got me wrong..like u dont gota put flute and strings into ur beats..but u could add ur style into ur samples...right now only producers which i respects who uses samples are, 9th wonder, and just blaze cuz they really flip a sample and also add in their own stuff and also alchemist...but timbo he just uses the loop and kanye sometimes he flips and sometimes he uses loops...but hope u get what i mean...try using your style into those sample..impretty sure u can get that type

I also posted this in another thread but I'm not sure if anybody saw this but daft punk talks about how they like sampling but the hard part of sampling is finding the exact sound you want so they like working with samples but also play their own stuff. If you look at songs like Harder Better Faster Stronger they use an old funk sample for half of the main beat and then they play their own synth and vocoded vocals on top. DAFT PUNK
And when it comes down sampling doesn't hold weight like it did back when. It's harder to impress people by finding a dope 4 bar sample, looping it and throwing drums on top. That doesn't really make you a musician that just makes you a guy with good musical tastes.

Im a better musician then i am producer. Ive been playing guitar and bass for 6 years, and doing studio work on drums. Still, i hate mixing the two. When i do it, it sounds corny.

Maybe to sound less corny you should take a backwards ass approach to making the track. Just jam out a whole tune, eq it do the effects you would've done if you were making a regular song and then resample it and do the process as if you were sampling something you found. I'm not a good enough musician to make a decent original track but I'm constantly trying to learn in the hopes of one day being able to make original beats that are as awesome as sampled beats.

nah man.
Im in love with that old vintage raw sound. I mean sometime i might make a beat with some analog synth or something, but as far as layering todays vst's and instruments with raw samples doesnt do it for me.

My question is not anwered. Is 007007 buying instruments?
zSHARE - indian sampled beat1.mp3
That song.
Did 007007 play the strings? Did he play the flute?
He said that nothing is sampled but the indian vocals.
So does that mean that all the other instruments are live? Meaning he bought the string instruments, and bought the flute and played them into recording devices and put them in to the song he posted (the one above)?

How did this thread go from nominating producers to a debate on samples vs composing...
Seriously, there is no 1 way to make music. If grime wants to make beats using samples he damn well can and should.... chopped or looped makes no difference. If you other cats want to make music through composing you can and should... My point being people who like grime's style will listen to his music and it goes the other way too. Music is all about emotions, style, feelings etc... People are gonna listen to and follow what they like. Seeing as this forum is called "CrateKings" if you hadn't noticed, I'd imagine most of the producers who get respect around here use samples... Does that not make sense?
I hate it when people come off like their way is the only way and is the law or something. Even if you didn't mean too that's exactly how it looks from where I'm standing.
