I don't believe in "God" as a person in the sky, creator of earth, mankind, and all that is in existence. I believe in a higher power, I believe in energy, we're all energy if you look under a microscope powerful enough. Everything is energy, therefore we're all connected, energy wise. We emmit energy levels and "the universe" responds to us as we respond to our surroundings. Be happy and you'll draw happiness, success, health, wealth, money, whatever you want, as long as you think and feel you can. thats my philosphy, some may have heard of it, its called "The Secret" and its the secret to life and everything inbetween.

This has been a very interesting thread to read.

I'd heard the term agnostic but never knew what it meant, until wiki'ing it just now. Whenever people have asked me about religion I've always said, "I don't know what happens when you die, I'll find out when it happens. I'm not atheist, I just don't know what happens. Anything could happen."

So I guess I'm agnostic. But from reading the wiki page there are different types of agnosticism (which I couldn't be bothered explaining).

But being agnostic doesn't mean your a fence sitter. It just means you don't know. If someone asks you a question about something you know nothing about, what should you say? You SHOULD say, "I don't know".

Thats not a shot at people who have beliefs. Maybe you are right and maybe you do somehow know that there is a god. But I can't 'know' that he exists just because some other human tells me he does. Humans lie and deceive all the time.

As others said, religion can be a good thing and it can be a bad thing. Just look at this thread. How many arguments have there been already? Who cares what someone else believes, just let them be as long as theyre not harming you. Don't force your opinions on others.

E.g. when people from various religions go door knocking and they come to my door. I'm kind of annoyed because theyre trying to push their religion on to me, but I always talk to them and I'm always polite to them because in their mind, they know god exists, and they are trying to help me (a poor lost soul lol). So I can't be rude to someone who is trying to help me.

its funny to me how people use terms like 'tested' and 'research' when making christians look like brainless zealots following unfathomable theory. my question would be tested by who? everything any of us ever researched or ever had tested in terms of history or science or philosophy has been written by a man, period. so those of u who sit on sum makeshift pedastol of knowledge and understanding are basically doing the same thing christians or followers of any religion are doing - MINUS THE DEITY, one guy on here had a rough life and was shattered so much lol he decided nothing was good and had to be tested. TESTED BY WHAT BASIS? SUMTHING A MAN HAS WRITTEN. and moreover u have no clue what that scientist, scholar, physicist, book writer, poet, false prophet, etc is into within the confines of his home before he wrote what u read and BELIEVED when u read it. dunno bout others here but I have studied my religion, and there was a character who was TESTED by both the temptation of this world, and from a secular stand point by the laws of probability. there were over 300 prophecies about him in the old testament alone even one depicting his birthplace hundreds of years before he would ever walk the earth. the probability of him fulfilling jus 1-10 of over three hundred prophecies is 1 and a trillion times a trillion. lol so sumbody gone read this and make sum sarcastic comment like the tripped out dude that don't believe in nothing, and say sumptin 'SMART' like I don't subscribe to that or ur ignorant or I SEARCHED for myself in another direction, when all he did was follow a TEXT written by a man like I did, but the only difference is mine claims to be inspired by a creator, he-she has no clue what inspired a historian, scientist, or any other creator of text of any sort to write what they wrote for u to say u tested it and it is now truth to u.

You can interpret the bible in many ways and as anyone who has read it (which includes me) is often times very strange and/or vague. Like take for example the story I already posted in this thread I think you'd find it pretty hard to explain why it's in the bible and what it means.

Also what I always thought as a kid when I wondered about religion is why back in the olden days in one very small part of the world did god single out the Jews in particular to be his chosen people, make all his prophets, and birth his son. I mean it kind of explains this in the bible god just decided that he really liked Abraham and all of his offspring would be his chosen people if they promised to cut their dicks for him but he kind of turns his back on all the other ethnic groups mentioned in genesis and then it completely doesn't even mention all the others like Asians, and Indians, and then the whites who eventually came to think that Jesus was white.

Again I'm not knocking religion I don't believe in any kind of magic/spiritual/chi/hoodoo so I have nothing against any of them in particular. My philosophy is just let everyone do what ever makes them happy as long as you don't fuck with other people which includes trying to call people out for their religious beliefs.

I'm not knocking anyone for whut they believe, don't believe, or anyones claim to not believe at all in relation to a deity. its easy for anyone to misinterpret anything and in correlation to the jews that is exactly whut happens by society. the jews were gods chosen but foreigners were not excluded from practicing the religion of the god of abraham issac and jacob. everybody makes it seem as if god were saying the jews are mine, they are saved, and everybody else is going to hell. that couldn't be further from the truth. 1st no one except elijah and enoch ever went to heaven from the old testament. 2. all peoples of the old testament were bound to the grave and either paradise - a land near hell separated from hell by a chasm or hell itself till the coming of jesus to set the CAPTIVES FREE. 3. anyone who derived that from the old testament needs to do a bit more research. foreigners WERE allowed to be bound by the customs of the LAW and circumcision was an outward cymbal of mans acceptance of the terms of the law. I hate when people throw color and racism into religion when that's something that should not be an issue. a bunch of corrupt people who are a part of dark cults and masonic orders use things like a WHITE JESUES, and secular literature to push people further away from god. THATS CUZ THEY ARE PART OF THE DEVILS REGIME. the covenant of abraham was broken by the israelites, jesus came to save all persons, god IS merciful, and just like we were parented and hated sum of the things our parents did to discipline us- we grow to do the same things cuz the CHILDREN couldn't see that we knew what was best for them despite the fact that they still had the OPTION to make any decision they wanted.
