It's one of the few albums i've heard that i can listen all the way through, without skipping...and then go right back to the first track and listen again. I don't quite know how to classify the sound of it, it's not hip hop, it's not rap, i wouldn't class it as garage, it's just...'the streets.' If you are American, i would recommend giving a few tracks from this album a listen, as a producer - this album is really inspiring, i find myself hearing tracks from it and thinking - ''how the fuck did he come up with that arrangement?''

Peep it;

Has It Come To This
The Irony Of It All (very clever track)
Don't Mug Yourself
Weak Become Heroes (Another very clever track)
Turn The Page (amazing arrangement)
Push Things Forward (again, very clever and again - amazing arrangement - notice a pattern emerging?)
I think most of here in the States who listen to real hip hop know Mike Skinner. If you only get your hip hop from MTV and you local commercial hip hop station then you probably wouldn't know him.

I love both of those albums. "A Grand..." and "Original Pirate..." are both really good in my book. But yah, I like Original Pirate Material better. That last song, I can't think of it now to save my life, but it's crazy ill.

I just downloaded "the hardest way to make an easy living" (or whatever it is) last week. I think that one is pretty lame. I spun it a few times and don't think I'll go back to it.

peace (like a river)

yeah man, I too have heard of the Streets.

I like it, even though you wouldn't call that a "flow" by any means, and the production is a little bit... plasticky. I think I prefer A Grand Don't Come For Free because of how it's all tied together, and the surprise ending

Just Trying To Stay Positive, right? The really long one? I mean, kinda long?

yeah that's an ill track. I like how his "flow" (contradicted myself) tumbles over itself, like tripping over its own feet, yet still manages to get to the right spots at the right times. I bet... nah, nevermind. The Streets has something to offer and shouldn't be slept on.

I hear he'll just chill in his house for days straight making beats and come up with beat tapes that have like 150 tracks on them and just of the craziest shit you can imagine.

Yah yah, that's the one. I fuckin love that song. Even if I don't get all the british references and slang. I remember a couple years ago I had to ask this british dude I work with what a "geezer" was.

I haven't heard that in forever. I'm gonna go dig it out of my hard drive.

I know what you mean. It's cool experimental stuff, which is why I guess I respect it. But on the same token, I also don't get it. Maybe I just can vibe to it.

Rafferty, you the man. I just stopped by my local spot in Albany called Last Vestige and they had it hiding in the dungeon. VG+ for $8, but the real deal is it was worth it. McCartney is all over the map on this album. There's also a few nice hooks I'm going to work with.

Peace
