Madlib and DJ shadow.

Madlib is so DIFFERENT. His shit is really pushing on the boundaries of hip hop. Some of his shit may not even be hip hop. I dont know what the hell it is. Cant even classify it. He has SO MUCH material that fuses so many different angles of music. Nobody can touch him....everything he touches turns to gold.

Shadow is the master of straight up sample based production. I dont think an MC could even find room on one of his tracks. His songs are already complete productions. To do instrumental albums that can grab the attention of so many different people is just quality.

Organ Donor. Those drums. WHOA.

Shadow always has me in awe of his drum programming... I was reading the 33 1/3 book about Endroducing and just bugging out about how that album was made.

Producers that have influenced my work:

Dilla -- One of the best ever. A prime example of how you have to make the rules before you break the rules. Some of Dilla's techniques couldn't have been done by anyone else but him.

Pete Rock -- For creating the panned horn technique. I have a lot of respect for his approach to hi-quality mixing and mastering.

Premier -- What would Gang Starr be without Premier?

MF DOOM -- This guy is tweaked! But, every time I listen to DOOM I try something a little risky with my sound.

Edan -- Good vibe.

RZA -- What would Hip-Hop have been in the 90's without RZA?

Shadow -- A master DJ and amazing producer. Endtroducing is one of the best albums of all time. Come on, the entire album was done with samples. No synths, no live instruments.

RJD2 -- Pushing the barriers of what is and isn't Hip-Hop.

The WHY part.

Ant: His samples are always bangin. He just brings a lot of emotion into his beats with sick samples. I especially like his work for Brother Ali

Premier: His chops are filthy and his beats sound really grimey. His drums are always well mixed with the sample and they're usually real chill and laid back

Dre: His shit is so clean. I'm sure a lot of it's not him, but the mixes are always PERFECT and his shit is always a whole production, rather than just a beat

Hi Tek: One word. Bass. I love how his bass stands out in his mixes.

Jake One: For one, he's from my home town so he gets auto points. His shit reminds me of early ninetys sampled shit except he makes his shit bang! His bass is SOOO on point
