I'm a loop loving brother. I search for those crazy ass loops. If I can chop em...cool.
if not....I loop like no other.
gotta have the crazy tracks for that though!

I guess the only thing I can think of that alway do, or never do actually. I never use drum breaks. I bang all the drums out myself, every hit.
With samples, I most often lay the sample, chopped or looped or whatever. Then bang some drums over it. Then add bass...then whatever else. Sometimes I do put some drums down first and just jam over it with some samples or some live instruments.
Yup

I find a sample, listen too it and think of the part Im going to use,I usually think of how the beat should go in my head, not complexed of course, just simple.Prolly like the first sequence, after that,I rather loop unless it calls for chopping.Do that and lay some drums over it,then after that I try to find different sequences. After that, add whatever I add and Im done.

i usually stack sounds for a while before even go into a beatmaking process. then it varies from track to track. some times i go into granular synthesis, some times i take a straight loop. its just gotta have style. some tracks to dont sound good when theyre all chopped up. with reason(what i use) you can sample in pretty much any fashion you like. but i take a basic approach to everything i do.

I listen to tracks until i here something that grabs my attention. For example, a bassline or melody. Chop it, speed it up, Whatever and start there. My best work comes quick, if i think long, the track usually sounds forced.

damn grimeshine
beats are on point.
me personally i always get the sample first. i'll arrange the samples how i might like em, then i try a multitude of different drums.. oh, and it's key to EQ the drums and the sample at the SAME TIME. don't overload frequencys and make it tighttt.

I usually start with sample first. so i'm not limited to a certain drum pattern or sound I like to layer my drums alot and I can't do that until i have a definite sample.

Do you know the history of hiphop? If you do then you would have not said that!!!! Do rock music or something...sampling is the back bone of hiphop..
