It must be due to the fact that my love for buying records out weighs my drive to produce the sample based hip hop beats that I love.

Its almost like I dig for records to find a loop and once the loop/sample has been found I record it on my 505 or somewhere in my computer and just move on.

I have the ability to find the fire....but I am not burning anything.

I started thinking if maybe these are 2 different skill sets and/or desires. Finding/diggin' for beats and the love or drive to flip them.

I wish a producer would hire me to dig and find records. Then find the dope samples within those records.

Wonder if there is such a thing?

how much would you charge?

mr floyd.

maybe even if we dont work out a deal, it would be ill to make beats together. Ive been putting together an album, with some pretty nasty tracks and a bunch of local MC's. If you wanna collab on some beats for it, that would be ill

There is a guy called AME who is a professional digger. He is from Belgium and he provided vinyl for madlib, E Swift, Mark B, Dj Vadim, Pete Rock, ...
- KickSnare Magazine (it's in dutch)
He also has some mixtapes of samples used by J dilla and others

yeah, you should hit up Phil The Soulman from Philly. Dude ia a aaa++++ digger and a good dude. He's provided beats to a lot of duded that have had major hits and he'd be able to steer you in the right direction.

There's that dude Juliano from the Creators and recordkingz who's supplied samples for loads of heads & producers well. Kon & Amir obviously, plus on that Deep Crates DVD there's a few dudes who work in shops who save certain bits of wax cos they know certain well known producers will have them.

I remember years back a dude I knew (now a semi well known UK producer) who would often spend up to £100 for a phat rare album, not for himself, but to sell to the likes of Pete Rock, Primo, Large Pro etc for proper dollars when he hit New York. I don't know how well he did cos we lost contact, but I know he was pretty well connected back then & seemed to know what he was chatting about.

I personally love finding my own shit, but I can't blame certain dudes for getting others to do their digging, cos I spend so much time going through records looking for samples & with my schedule, that limits my time actually beatmaking. Saul good though!
