i still dig by all means, not like i used to. if i can get a nice high quality mp3 of something...fuck it, its going to sound better anyways.

i think the bottom line is though, we are all here for a reason and that is the "crates". i think even the most hardcore internet digger would break if he saw a melvin bliss 7" sitting in a thrift shop.
I feel you. I lost 200 records in a fire at my storage spot and then a few months later about 800 from a robbery. Compound that with the fact that I don't really have time and I'm forced to get it where I can. Besides, if Just Blaze can get rich off Ken Sports Original Soul CD, what's the point?

seriously?

if someone emailed you a cd quality version Honeydrippers Impeach the Pres, you would sample an old crusty, poppy, vinyl version?

even if i have a record, sometimes i'll download it just for the sound quality.

OHHH HELL YEAH..........I'LL GO FOR THE RECORD ....I LOVE THE SOUND OF OLD VINYL...ANYTIME!!!

I love the sound of old vinyl too

but especially when I'm listening to the actual vinyl,
not so especially when it's the sound of vinyl playing on a cd

no matter where the beats come from, its where they go after you use them.

I envy you cats in the US. Most of you have a digging spot close by.
Places like that just don't exist here - they wouldn't make money.
Now that I think about it, the closest thing I got to a digging spot is
Dusty Groove!
If it wasn't for the net I wouldn't be digging, especially ORGY IN RHYTHM blogspot.
They opened up a new world for me, before I discovered them - I was mostly sampling classical music.
BLESS THEM and all the sites that I have downloaded from.
But at the end of the day, nothing beats that warm feel that you get from sampling your records.
And what's more soothing than putting that needle to groove after a long day.

I for one proudly sample whatever the hell I can get my hands on, which turns out to be mostly mp3s.

I do both. I go weekley to my local record spot and the local flea market. I'll usually always pick something up there but that wont stop me from grabbing something that catches my eye on the net. Sometimes you'll find something on the net that you'll never find in a lifetime of digging.
