this 6 minute tutorial on you tube is very informative....it is a parallel compression technique....very helpful for those seeking to beef up their drums...

I´ve heard of the new york compression trick before and I tried it several times but never achieved the results that I wanted...

It actually works in Reason too. It's kind of a pain, but it involves a lot of cable routing.

How do you do it?... I just run my kicks and snares through a line mixer to a splitter...run one output in the splitter to your main mixer and the other through a mastering comp (I run it through an eq too) and then to the mixer. Adjust the levels...
