If everyone that participates in the battle votes its cool. When i say vote, they don't have to vote for there own beat. All should be on a even playing field. It should be out in the open! Thats why i set up battles to show who voted. Some people don't even have 10 post. I thought you needed 10 post to participate in battles? Do there votes count?

first thing, i see where y'all are coming from on both sides. it's cool to vote for yourself, but if you do - the other producer might as well vote for themselves too - to make it even.

second, i voted w/ out having 10 posts. my understanding has always been that you needed 10 posts to battle, not to vote. i might be wrong.

looking at the poll results from grime vs mach, grime did vote (i'm assuming for himself) and he might as well vote for himself in this battle to make it even - as in both contestants voted.

my $.02

I think if one producer votes for himself, then to make it even the other has to vote for himself too. All that does is skew the ratio a little bit. I remember the first Crate Kings beat battle we had, #1 it was, and every producer who entered had 1 vote. And then a couple guys had 2 votes, and one person had 4 I think. And that person won. Everyone had at least 1 vote because everyone voted for themself. Oh, wait, that's right, Rafferty had 0 votes.

If you truly had confidence in your shit, you would expect to get enough votes that you wouldn't have to vote for yourself. In Crate Kings battle #1 that I just mentioned, imagine if instead of voting for themselves, everyone had voted for the beat that they thought was best? That's the whole point, right? It would have been a way more accurate assesment of the quality of the entries. Instead everyone hedges their bets. If everyone votes for their own shit, it's like wasting a vote. It's like not having a vote at all. my grandfather gave his life in WW2 so that you could vote on your goddamn beat battles, DON'T WASTE IT!

I avoid voting for myself because it's kind of cheating in my eyes but maybe we should just make it a rule that everyone votes for themselves so we can disregard 1 vote each and theirfore the dishonest people don't have an advantage. Because I know not every time I threw up a poll did I make the voters choices public so people could've been voting for their own shit secretly

Check. I'm not "hedgin my bets" if i vote for ME. I'm sayin that I think i've got the best track. I wouldn't submit something if i didn't think it was the best....so i'm gonna vote for me! It's like putting your heart and soul into something and submitting it to contest but saying, "mmm, i shouldn't win though. mines just alright."
ok, sure...if you submit a track that you truely put everything into but the other cat just murdered you and you know it, then if you want go 'head and vote for them. but in that case i would imagine he who has the nicest shit is gonna come out ontop regardless of your vote. if those who submit the tracks don't have say then dissable their votes alltogether i think.
peace.

But that's kind of the point though a vote for yourself is kind of a worthless vote because it's like "you favor your own beat the best? Suprise surprise. "

Some people like to remain humble and not vote for themselves and let the listeners decide but then some people think it's fair game to do it so the only true fair thing is either everybody votes for their own beat (unless they decide to concede that the other beat is better..not likely though) or nobody votes for themselves. Either way the votes don't contribute to the score therefore the whole voting for yourself thing is pointless.
