I use software simply because its cheaper. true, it may seem that it is harder to form that intimate bond with software that you would have with an old piece of gear, and it may seem that virtuosity with a softsynth isnt as well-earned as the mastery of a real keyboard, but i say it doesn't really matter. if you make good with it, you will stick with it, and that's it. the most important thing with either choice is that you don't expect it to sound good by itself, you have to put a lot of work into it or there will be no difference between a $5000 setup and a $500 one.
