When I discovered what was going down with the blog scene, I can't say I was happy. I'm not gonna get drawn into the e(fake)-diggers vs vinyl(real)-diggers debate again, all I'll say is, yep, I downloaded a few bits, but couldn't bring myself to use any of it, it just felt wrong. Now I know I'm from the old school, and come from the perspective of being a DJ before producing so those bits of wax hold some allure that no digital files could ever replicate. Plus, I don't want to be making beats out of the same samples everyone else has downloaded.

That being said, I'm not like a crazy purist who won't sample off anything other than the original pressing, but I just can't get exited about finding a dope sample off a blog because there's no sense of achievement in finding them! Personally I just love it when I hit a car boot sale, see some weird cover amongst all the Sound Of Music soundtracks & Abba's Arrival albums, taking it home & flicking through the tracks when suddenly BLAM!,, the dopest open drums you'll ever hear or some pshychadelic strings or whatever. I try and go out of my comfort zone of afros and smokey jazz as often as I can and often come up trumps. I once bought this album by a Scottish christian vocal group and there where the ugliest bunch you'll ever see, but there's some dope ass shit on that album that I doubt will ever reach the blogs!
