I just noticed the other day i had a really awsome system for basslines.

I first take my bass sample. ( a one hit note) And i put one note on pad 1. I then take that same bass note, and put it an octave higher on pad 2. (Im using hte MPC by the way)

I then take the higher octave, and with my 16 levels function, i play the highest octave possible, with that high octave pad. ALmost sounds ear splitting, but not quite. I do this to make sure im in tune. So i play my beat, while im tapping this bass pad, and adjusting the tuning untill i have it just right. Finally, i play the bass line with the higher octave pad on 16 levels. It helps for my ears to be able to hear the melody a bit better. Once i got a good bassline, i switch it for the original, low octave bassline, and there you have it.

THat made no sense huh?
