UPDATED Wednesday July 9
These rules are NOT official, and are subject to change within individual battle threads. These rules however, always apply to official beat battles. If a user does NOT specify his own rules, then the following rules are assumed;
1. In order to make a sample neutral (Aka: One that someone hasn't prepared a beat for early) It is usually expected that the sample will be posted by another member of the crate kings forums. Feel free to post a sample for someone else's battle! We need all the help we can get.
-Samples include full songs that have been sampled in the past, or have potential to be sampled. Be creative!
2. The only melodic sounds (Besides rule #3) that are allowed to be added are sounds from the original sample posted.
3. Bass and drums are the only other samples allowed to be used. Rules are pretty general on what bass entitles, so please dont push it and keep the frequencies low!
-Drums entitle everything without a key or a pitch.
Including shakers, claps, and other percussive instruments.
--WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR BEAT IS DONE--
4. Once a battle is completed, go to
zSHARE - Free Image, Video, Audio, Flash and File Hosting and upload your song. You must then have everyone in the battle agree on a final user (Not involved in the battle)who Is sent both beats. That user then posts both beats in an anonymous poll, and votes are casted! (To start a poll, create a new thread, and in the 4th column down below the text box is an option to create a new poll. Check it off, and make each option a link to the beat.) Usually the voting process lasts around 2-4 days, and the official beat battles usually take about a month for all submissions to come in, and 1-3 weeks to get them judged.
Zshare is a PUBLIC DOMAIN. It can be accessed by anyone, anywhere and is not just used for crate kings. Any beat of yours could be downloaded and used not under the responsibility of Semantik, crate kings, or any of the crate kings staff.
-A suggestion, is you could tag your beats. Repeat a voice of you or someone else saying your producer tag over the beat so that a continuous loop of your beat isnt heard once in the song without a tag. However, tagging could potentially take away from the original aspect of the song, so use it how you wish.
Attention: Please, i repeat PLEASE do not join a battle you cant finish, or know you will not finish. Making beats is hard work, and your opponent is making that beat for your pleasure to be able to have a friendly competition. If you flake out, that leaves that user with a big waisted time on their hands, doesn't it?
and be nice! we are an INTERNET FORUM. Not a DMC world championship match. its about the music, not the winning.
A respectful attitude is more awed upon here then an undefeated ranking.

Thats about all i can think of for now. Semantik, maybe a sticky? I havent seen any threads in this section about the rules.
