DJ Vinroc Interview: Record Labels, Sampling, Production

August 19, 2009

Built From Skratch features DJ Vinroc (Triple Threat DJ’s, 5th Platoon) as he discusses his evolution from turntablist to producer, his frustration with recording labels and the decision to start his own.

Notable Quote:
“The way I make music has changed from when I started.  I used to just use the records.  I used to just sample and make my beats like that, but I’ve picked up a little bit of playing and sometimes I just got to the keyboard and just sound out what you like. Get some percussion from a record, get some drums or live guitar over the sample… things like that.  Just combine it all together.”
