Digidesign Finally Releases Pro Tools LE 7.4 Vista Update!

December 14, 2007

Ok so I’m about a month late with this one, but who actually has time to keep checking the Digidesign website for updates? Remember the original posts Five Lesson Learned From Upgrading Digidesign’s Pro Tools and our shared frustrations about further deadline pushbacks? Well, after months of agony and mean spirited teasing, the audio bullies over at Digidesign finally let up and gave us something to work with. The good news is that if you purchased Pro Tools LE on or after October 1st, 2007, you’re eligible to receive the update for free. The bad news is that if, like me, you thought Digi would release the Vista update way back in the summer like originally stated, then you’ll have to pony up $49 (or $75 if using a version prior to 7.3) for the LE 7.4 upgrade. Big fun, right? Let’s all whip out our wallets and feed the massive three headed Pro Tools monster!

sadly, i’m beginning to agree with ryan. after being a loyal digi customer for many years now… they just make it more, and more, of a pain in the ass to work. i own the damn hardware. if a new OS appears, why not wait until your release fully supports it, BEFORE releasing.. updates that need to be obtained by logging into a website, and giving all the same annoying info/keys you gave the first time, are really a pain in the ass for people getting paid hourly. why not add a script to your updates to make sure our original installed program is legit… and get on with business. until this is all resolved, i’m giving DIGI a huge thumbs down! F-… no fuckin’ stars.
