Dante Ross Says Music Is Too Accessible

Dante Ross digs in the crates while telling stories of Mary J. Blige’s disappearing acts, giving business advice to N.W.A., and other crazy tales that can only be heard from a Stimulated Dummy (SD50’s).  Dante also gives his analysis of the major problems with Hip-Hop (over-accessibility and lack of progressiveness) and expresses his faith in the next wave of artists.

  1. he is absolutely right. it used to be a beautiful thing. it takes a lot of work for me to listen to it now. but i am still hopeful.

    shake shakir

  2. What bullshit logic… So music’s accessible — and more people than ever are able to participate in hip-hop — and somehow that makes pop music all the same? Nah, I don’t think so. It’s the music market, it’s the industry (scared to death about accessibility), not the kid at home rapping in his basement. Yeah, he might suck, but he also might produce something unexpected. And you probably would’ve never heard him in the 1990s.

In other words, yeah, Dante Ross, you do sound like a bitter, (very) old man.

  3. “Mary used to disappear.”

what the hell did he expect, mary used to get high as shit.cokeheads tend to disappear from time to time.

but im glad all that is behind her, she’s was the shit then and still is!

  4. That was beautiful… And Dante’s right. Flooding the market with sub-par crap because anybody can buy a computer and make a record simply equates to more garbage in the dump. You now have to sift through mountains of crap to find the truly dope stuff.

50% of the people in the U.S. play instruments. Should 50% of the people you know personally make albums? You ever been to an open mic and experienced all that…ahem “talent”? For less than $2000, everyone can now record all the songs they want and put them on the internet for distribution. All of them. It still doesn’t mean they should.

  5. WOW THAT’S IS SOME REAL SHIT HE’S TALKING ABOUT THERE. HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! YOU COULD TELL THAT DANTE IS A REAL OG IN THIS GAME. YOU COULD TELL THE REAL FROM THE FAKE

  6. That’s a legend. Everything was real and true. Anyone complaining about the truth of his statements are riding the curve just like everyone else.

  7. What could make X-CLAN hate white people?
    Dante you fell off
You have become part of what destroying the music
    Protected………………………………sissies!

  8. WHO CARES WHAT HE SAYS? ANOTHER WHITE CAT GETTING NOTICED FOR BLACK MUSIC. HES GARBAGE. I STEPPED TO HIM ON HIS WACKNESS AND HE SAID NOTHING.

  9. He’s right and wrong. Check youtube there are tons of worthless producers and rappers. But it doesn’t mean that just because nowadays you don’t have to spend a lot of money or get signed to some soul sucking label to get your music in the biz.

    WORD UP!
