D Dot Defines Ghost Producing, Discusses The Benjamins

March 4, 2010

Deric “D Dot” Angelettie (Notorious B.I.G., Mase, SWV, Mary J Blige, Jay Z) discusses producing The Benjamins, ghost producing, and some of the beats that were stolen from him over the years.

Ghost producing to me means that you’re on the come up.  That’s a term for a producer that’s on the come up and you don’t know how to produce.

There is just something about ghost production that I just dont respect. Why would an established name need to “Steal” credit for a beat? It just seems extra unnecessary. What does either side lose from revealing the true producer?

they still do it everyday. once they get a name for themself first thing they do is hire a production team. then get a piece of it and jump in the video like its them who done it. i guess when you get alot of work you need some help .timbaland did it ‘ puffy invented it ‘ and now dre is doin it. but the neptunes and swizz beats dont .
